As a child, Gaye Marie spent summers "up to camp" on Brettuns Pond in Livermore, Maine. When the time came to sell their family camp, she found the perfect spot on Toddy Pond to continue the tradition.
In the 70's Brettuns pond suffered from a devastating algae bloom which prompted her and her local community to form a pond association. Because of that activism, the members were able to pinpoint the source of polluted runoff and with time and collective effort the pond eventually recovered. She welcomes the opportunity to serve on the Toddy Pond Association board.
Gaye Marie also volunteers at the Turnstyle/Tree of Life Thrift Store in Blue Hill where, among other tasks, she uses her experience as a jeweler to organize incoming jewelry donations.
